I am a German-New Zealand artist based in Berlin. My practice is largely centered in figurative painting but frequently extends into other media and materials. I often draw on private photographs, family albums, historical images and found photographic sources.

I am concerned with how identity is formed, made visible and shaped by images. My interests encompass personal experiences as well as collective histories, social expectations, gender roles and forms of control. A recurring theme is the relationship between what is shown and what remains hidden, overlooked or only partially legible.

In my paintings, I work with cropping, layering, fragmentation, colour and varying degrees of sharpness. I also use photography, cyanotype, encaustic, image transfer and ceramics, drawing on the distinct possibilities these materials and techniques offer.

Across my work, I return to questions of how we perceive ourselves and others, and how these perceptions are influenced by memory, relationships, societal representations and new technologies.
